Spring Home Maintenance

As the days lengthen and the temperature rises, it is a great time to take a look at your seasonal home maintenance schedule.  Below is a list of tasks that will help to protect your home against weather, reduce long term maintenance costs, and help to identify issues before they become major repairs.   The more frequently you do it, the less time it will take each season to complete each task.  And of course, maintaining and improving the appearance of your property will help to add value to your home!

 

  • Clean gutters and downspouts
  • Clean and reseal exterior woodwork (decks, fences, pergolas etc)
  • Check for signs of termites
  • Inspect roof for signs of winter damage
  • Inspect driveways and paths
  • Check sprinkler and irrigation systems
  • Check exterior paint, siding, masonry
  • Replace outdoor light bulbs as needed
  • Clean and set up outdoor furniture
  • Schedule septic tank inspection
  • Turn on outside water taps
  • Check screens on doors and windows for holes or tears
  • Check seals around windows and doors
